Achillea nano is a lesser-known but valuable representative of the yarrow genus. It has anti-inflammatory, tonic and digestion-supporting properties. In traditional medical systems it has been used for minor digestive ailments and as a means of supporting the body’s balance.
In cosmetics, it can have a soothing effect on the skin and can be used in formulations for sensitive or redness-prone skin.
Differences between dwarf yarrow and common yarrow
Although dwarf yarrow(Achillea nano Linn.) and yarrow(Achillea millefolium) belong to the same botanical genus, they differ both morphologically and chemically. Achillea millefolium is more widespread, known for its wide use in phytotherapy, especially in digestive, skin and female ailments.
On the other hand, dwarf yarrow, although less common, shows similar anti-inflammatory and tonic properties, but its phytoactive composition may be less intense or slightly different in terms of the content of active compounds, such as flavonoids or essential oils. Therefore, it is worth taking into account the differences between these species when developing formulations, selecting the raw material according to formulation needs and action profile.
